Russia used "Shahed jets" and rockets on residential neighbourhoods.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko has said that during the massive attack on Kiev on the night of 31 July, Russian troops, according to preliminary data, used so-called "reactive Shaheds" - modified kamikaze drones, which had previously been used to strike civil and municipal infrastructure in the capital.

First drones, then missiles

According to the minister, the drones entered Kiev's airspace from different directions. After the first stage of the attack, when there seemed to be a relative calm, the enemy launched a missile strike.

There is preliminary information that the missiles were Shaheds, which are not the first time they have been used against the civil and municipal infrastructure of Ukraine and the city of Kyiv. Experts are now counting how many of them there were," Klymenko said.

The total number of drones used by Russia on Ukraine that night, according to the air defence forces, exceeded 300 units. In addition, the occupants fired at least eight missiles, with the main target being the city of Kiev.
