

Imam Artur Yakubov took his family abroad and returned to Ukraine. His house in the vicinity of Kharkiv was destroyed by Russian occupants.
On 14 May, 34-year-old Artur Yakubov, an imam of one of Kharkiv mosques, died in battle while defending Ukraine. This was reported by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea.
Yesterday our brother and comrade, imam of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Artur Yakubov died in the battles for his native Kharkiv region. We express our sincere condolences to Arthur's family, friends and relatives. Our brother had a wife and three children. Almighty Allah takes the best, in the best way. May Allah grant him His mercy and accept his shahada," the condolence message reads.
Journalist Elvina Seitbullayeva said that during the full-scale war Arthur Yakubov saw with his own eyes the Russian invasion and the first battles in Kharkiv region.
He took his family abroad and returned to Ukraine. His house, which was located in a village near Kharkiv, was destroyed by Russian invaders.
Artur Yakubov was an educator and taught at the Crimean Tatar lyceum Birlik School, which is located in the village of Chaika in the Kiev region.
Yakubov became an imam, giving Friday namazes and instructions. He did volunteer work and travelled to frontline regions.
Last year he volunteered for the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
