The lack of submarines and large warships were named as Ukraine's weaknesses.
Ukraine has been ranked 20th in a new global ranking of the military power of 145 countries. The rating was prepared by the analytical resource Global Firepower, which takes into account more than 60 indicators - from the size of the army and equipment reserves to economic and demographic potential.
Experts note that Ukraine's strengths are the size of the active army, reserves and equipment, naval potential, extensive railway network, coal production and defence spending. Among the weaknesses are the lack of submarines and large warships, its own tankers, and high dependence on coal, oil and gas.
In the ranking Ukraine was next to Spain (18th place), Egypt (19th), Poland (21st) and Taiwan (22nd ).
Leading the list are the world's largest armies: the United States, Russia, China, India, South Korea, France, Japan, the United Kingdom, Turkey and Italy.
According to Global Firepower, this ranking reflects not only combat capabilities, but also the economic sustainability and infrastructural capacity of countries, making it one of the most comprehensive indicators of global military strength.
