AFU has success in Bakhmut direction - Syrsky

Colonel-General and Ground Forces Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyy, has made this statement.

According to him, the Ukrainian defenders have had success in the Bakhmut direction. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are taking the city under fire control.

Syrskyy added that the enemy is trapped and is being driven out of its positions.

Deputy Defence Minister Anna Malyar notes that the Armed Forces have also kept under fire control the entrances, exits and movement of the enemy by Bakhmut.

This was made possible by the fact that in the process of advancing, our troops took control of the main dominating heights around Bakhmut," Malyar added.

Situation at the front

According to the Defence Ministry, during last week the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the east, as a result of frontal alignment, liberated 24 kV kilometres. In addition, an increase in the number of shelling to 7,184 was recorded in the eastern direction. In total, the enemy used 343,402 artillery and rocket-propelled grenades.

In the South, the AFU is also succeeding. As a result of the offensive, the defenders have advanced deep into the enemy. The liberated area is 168.6 sq km. During the week, the enemy carried out 4,318 shelling attacks in the Tauride direction.

Earlier Sotsportal reported that the Russian Federation was probably preparing for new "goodwill gestures". This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov.
