Ukraine wants to force Russia to make peace on its own terms - Handelsblatt

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Switzerland on 14 June to attend the Global Peace Summit.
A peace summit has started in Switzerland, to which Russia has not been invited. According to the Handelsblatt website, the summit is the first step towards making peace with Russia, but on Ukraine's terms.
The goal of the summit is to create a framework document for future negotiations on Ukraine's terms, which could be the first step towards a long-term peace," the newspaper said.
The summit should result in a document supporting Kiev in concluding a peace agreement on Ukraine's terms.
As Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, pointed out to the newspaper's journalists, the more countries support it, the harder it will be for Russia to ignore it.
160 countries have been invited to the summit. The main topics include ensuring Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, food security, nuclear safety and the return of people kidnapped by Russia, including children.
It is noted that participation in the summit and support for its initiatives means broad international isolation of Russia and financial support for Ukraine.
The G7 countries agreed to transfer to Ukraine the interest income from the frozen assets of the Russian central bank, which could amount to up to 50bn euros," the newspaper said.
Also, the newspaper said, the West is increasing military pressure by providing Ukraine with modern weapons systems to deter Russian troops.
All these measures are aimed at increasing diplomatic, economic and military pressure on Russia in order to force it to sit down at the negotiating table in the future on Ukraine's terms.
We would like to point out that Ukraine is already planning to hold the second Global Peace Summit, which will review the results of the first summit and the "developed roadmap on how to talk about peace in Ukraine".
