Ukraine is the country of the year according to The Economist

The Economist's Country of the Year 2022 is Ukraine.
That's what The Economist website reports.
Why our country? Heroism, ingenuity, resilience and inspiration are all about Ukraine.
Our writers and editors usually start with a free-flowing discussion in which they debate the competing claims of the half-dozen countries shortlisted. But this year, for the first time since we started naming countries of the year in 2013, the choice is clear. It can only be Ukraine," the publication reported.
Previously, this title was awarded to Myanmar (2015), France (2017, for implementing a number of structural reforms), Armenia (2018, as a result of mass protests Sarkisian resigned as prime minister in favour of an opposition representative) and Uzbekistan (2019, accelerated democratization). In 2020, the African state of Malawi received the award. In 2021, according to The Economist, Italy became the country of the year.
