If a person does not have enough sex, he can drink more water.

Scientists from the University of California at San Francisco and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in the United States found that the lack of sex can be partly compensated by drinking glass after glass. This is plain drinking water. This is stated in a scientific study published in the journal Nature .

Experts have found this by resorting to experiment. In particular, they gave mice plenty of water and observed how the liquid affects their release of dopamine (a neurotransmitter produced in the human brain and serving as an element of the brain's "reward system". It is also called the hormone of joy).

The animals received unlimited access to water for five minutes, and then their brain impulses were analyzed.

The level of dopamine in rodents began to rise immediately after the start of drinking water. The effect persisted even after 10 minutes, when the water was simply absorbed by the body, the scientists shared.

Experts conducted the same experiment, but with salted water. The effect of secretion of the hormone of joy - did not follow.

It should be noted that dopamine is released in humans not only during sex and drinking water. Its growth in the body occurs during sports, meditation, massage, sleep, listening to your favorite tracks, while eating almonds, bananas, avocados, eggs, beans, chicken and fish.

But low levels of the hormone of happiness are directly related to a number of mental health disorders. The most common conditions associated with its deficiency are depression, schizophrenia, psychosis, including hallucinations or delusions.

Not good for health and an overabundance of dopamine. This can lead to a drop in blood pressure, fainting, and other unpleasant side effects.

The level of the hormone of joy can be checked by taking a blood test.
