Thousands of facilities: Education Ministry names number of schools and kindergartens destroyed by occupants
Russian troops are deliberately targeting educational institutions for devastating strikes.
Russian Federation troops have partially damaged or destroyed to the ground more than 2,800 educational institutions in Ukraine since the start of the war, Education Minister Serhiy Shkarlet has said.
He stressed that the school year in the country this time is taking place in extremely difficult conditions, when many children, teachers of schools were under occupation, forced to move, when educational institutions were literally left with stones. 100 days of education this school year are under martial law. During those 100 days, rocket attacks by the Russians damaged and destroyed more than 390 educational institutions, and more than 2,800 since the full-scale invasion began.
According to the Ministry of Education's website for monitoring damage from the Russian invasion, at least 337 educational institutions have been completely destroyed and 2,452 damaged so far. An assessment of the financial damage due to the destruction is ongoing
Also, the Ministry of Education noted that the majority of Ukrainian students now have been moved to distance learning - of the nearly 4m students, 2.175m are involved in distance learning. 953,000 students study in the mixed form, while 847,000 study full-time.
We would like to add that the state budget of Ukraine for 2023 allocated UAH 122.12 billion for education, which is 20% less than last year.
