Law enforcement authorities detained for 72 hours the head of the legal department of the Moldovan Parliament, Ion Creanga, and an employee of the Moldovan Border Police

On the morning of 31 July, the Information and Security Service (SIS) together with the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organised Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) searched the building of the Moldovan Parliament. It may be related to a treason case.

According to the Moldovan edition of NewsMaker, the search took place in the office of the head of the legal department of the Parliament, Ion Creanga. He was detained for 72 hours. It is assumed that Creanga met with an employee of the Russian embassy in Chisinau and gave him information for a financial reward. According to the newspaper's interlocutors, the official was caught red-handed while handing over information to employees of the Russian embassy in Chisinau.

Representatives of the local prosecutor's office did not inform the media about the case in question.

The second detainee, whose name was not disclosed, is suspected of conspiracy against Moldova. According to the prosecutor's office, he "maintained contact with an employee of the Russian embassy to collect and transfer information" for the sake of obtaining benefits.

The Russian embassy in Moldova reacted to the detention and of course called it "another manifestation of anti-Russian sentiments artificially fuelled in Moldova".

One of the employees of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau was declared persona non grata and must now leave the territory of Moldova.
