Taylor Swift fans have long suspected that the singer is preparing a 12th studio album, and she has only fuelled interest with hints in recent months.

Now confirmation has been received: the new record is called The Life of a Showgirl. Elle tells us what to expect from the album.

The announcement was made on the New Heights podcast by brothers Travis and Jason Kelsey. In a short clip, Swift showed them the album cover, but the image was blurred. The full episode will air on August 13 at 7 p.m. ET, a day associated with her favourite number 13.

Unlike the previous tradition of one-sentence titles (Lover, folklore, Midnights) that has been going on for most of the discography, this album, like the previous The Tortured Poets Department, breaks the pattern.

Norelease date has been announced yet, but pre-orders are already available on the official website. It is stated that the vinyls will be shipped by 13 October 2025, while clarifying: this does not mean a release on that date.

Back in May, a letter appeared on Swift's website in which she announced that she now owns the master recordings of her entire discography. In the text, the phrase "I was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close" contained exactly 12 "i "s - fans took this as a hint of the 12th album.

In addition, the official Taylor Nation fan account held online listens to all previous albums in chronological order, which also hinted at the impending announcement.

During select shows on the Eras tour, the singer replaced the usual confetti and costumes with orange, a colour that was not associated with any of her previous Eras. on 11 August, Taylor Nation posted 12 photos of Swift in orange outfits on Instagram with the caption, "Thinking about when she said 'See you next era...' ❤️‍🔥".

That same day, Travis Kelsey hinted at a "very special guest" on his podcast, sitting against an orange wall, and later confirmed it was Swift.

The track list has yet to be revealed. Her past albums have ranged from 13 songs (1989) to 31 (The Tortured Poets Department).

The showgirl theme has previously appeared in the singer's work. In the Bejeweled music video, she performed the famous Dita Von Teese number in a martini glass and appeared in a glittery costume under an orange light. And during the Eras tour, she added showgirl elements to the I Can Do It With a Broken Heart number, where she utilised orange fans. In June 2024, she was joined on stage by Travis Kelsey for this performance.

So far, Swift has not officially revealed any details about TS12, but fans expect her to reveal more in her conversation with the Kelsey brothers. Judging by the visuals and symbolic hints, the Orange Age and showgirl image will be key elements of the new chapter of her career.
