The Italian Prime Minister spoke about the prospects of peace negotiations: what has been achieved

Italy's proposal became the basis of security guarantees for Ukraine.
Negotiations on ending Russia's war against Ukraine are making progress in terms of security guarantees and reconstruction of the country, but the key territorial issue remains unresolved.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Sky tg24 publication.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that the negotiations are recording important steps forward in the documents the parties are working on.
In particular, security guarantees for Ukraine, modelled on Article 5 of the North Atlantic Pact (NATO), are being actively discussed.
According to Meloni, the Italian proposal has become the basis of these guarantees, which are designed to protect Kiev in the long term.
Meloni emphasised that at the same time work is underway on a plan to rebuild Ukraine.
There is a peace plan in which many issues on paper have already been resolved," she said, emphasising that the diplomatic efforts cover a wide range of economic and infrastructural aspects necessary for the country's post-war reconstruction.
At the same time, the head of the Italian government noted that the resolution of the key territorial issue, on which Russia continues to make claims, is still far away.
I believe, as I have said many times, that it is important not just to achieve peace, but to achieve a just peace," Meloni emphasised, noting that Russia's territorial claims are considered unfounded.
Thus, despite progress in security guarantees and reconstruction, the path to a final resolution of the conflict remains difficult and requires further negotiations and compromises.
As Socialportal wrote, earlier German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that the probability of a quick end to Russia's war against Ukraine through diplomatic negotiations is very low.
