Russian troops began work on the surface protection of the Crimean bridge on 7 May.

Russian troops have increased the number of protective barges in the Kerch Strait one and a half times and piers have appeared under the Crimean bridge. This was reported by the Centre for Investigative Journalism on 19 June.

It is noted that the troops of the Russian Federation more than a month strengthen the system of protection of the Crimean bridge in the Kerch Strait from attacks of surface drones of the AFU.

Now the occupants are equipping the second line of booms and barges, which are already more than two dozen. Also at the base of the bridge, pier-like structures are being erected.

The Sentinel-2 satellite photo for 16 June shows that there are 21 barges in the Kerch Strait.

Erection of five piers at the base of the bridge began on 22 May 2024 on the two shores of Tuzla Island and on the Tuzla Spit on the side of the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation.

on 16 June 2024, the longest of the piers was about 190 metres and the shortest was almost 80 metres.

Work on the bridge's overwater protection began on 7 May 2024 and is still ongoing.

Earlier Socialportal reported that to protect the Crimean bridge in occupied Crimea, Russian troops are installing barges to protect it from the AFU's sea drones.
