Meloni said Russia poses a greater threat than previously thought

Russia will remain a threat to democracy even after the war ends, Meloni said.
Russia poses a great threat to the security of the EU countries, as it actively uses illegal migration, cyber attacks, espionage, blatant information manipulation and threats to pressure the West. This was stated by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Finland at a meeting of the leaders of Italy, Sweden and Greece, as well as the EU foreign policy chief, writes Reuters.
We must realise that the threat is much broader than we imagine," Meloni said.
At the same time, she emphasised that the threat from Russia will not stop after the end of the war in Ukraine, as the Kremlin is at war not only with a particular country, but also with democracy and the EU should be ready for it.
It is about our democracy, it is about shaping public opinion, it is about Africa, it is about raw materials, it is about migration. We have to realise that this is a very broad notion of security," Meloni said.
The politician called on the EU to strengthen borders and increase security on the territory of EU countries. She explained that the security of European countries also means critical infrastructure, artificial intelligence, cyber security, raw materials, supply chains.
It means a new and more effective foreign and co-operation policy," she said.
Meloni called on the EU to step up checks on those entering the bloc's territory in the near future.
